2026 SARW – RS Aero Florida State Championship

Back again for the second year, we are pleased to announce the return of the RS Areo in the 2026 SARW. The RS Aero Florida State Championship is open to Sailors of ALL ages – from Youth to Adult. RS Aero Florida State Championship will be sailing in the shadows of St. Augustine’s historic waterways, just South of Downtown. Sailors will race in a protected, challenging saltwater venue on Salt Run. An Expert Race Committee with lots of Safety Boats will ensure safe, fair competition. All RS Aero Sailors will check in at the St. Augustine Yacht Club on Saturday morning. Participants will also be treated to a Great Awards Dinner at the St Augustine Yacht Club Sunday after the regatta.

The Regatta will sail in Salt Run on Saturday & Sunday, April 11th & 12th 2026. Spectators can watch the RS Aero Sailing Events from the Spectator Cruise on the Florida Waterways Tours boat.

RS Aero Florida State Championship Registration Fee: $106.50 (including taxes). Registrations after February 23 will be $133.13 per boat including tax.

Sailors of ALL ages can compete in the 2026 SARW RS Aero Florida State Championship in one of four RS Aero Classes: RS Aero 5, 6, 7 & 9. Sailors will navigate a Downtown course in the Bayfront. There is a maximum 20 boat limit for the combined classes.

What is an RS Aero?

The RS Aero is a British sailing dinghy that was designed as a one-design racer and first built in 2014. The design is marketed and distributed by RS Sailing of Romsey, United Kingdom.

The RS Aero is a single-handed recreational sailboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a cat rig, a raked stem, a vertical transom, a transom-hung rudder controlled by a tiller with a hiking stick extension and a retractable daggerboard. It displaces 66 lb (30 kg).

The boat was also named the Sailing World Boat Of The Year in 2015, as Best One-Design. The magazine described it as “a stunning singlehander that is more than comparable to the Laser.” It was cited for its “construction quality, lightweight hull, versatile rig with multiple combinations, technical details, and price”.
